Marjin's Inventory is designed to give you complete visibility of your inventory throughout your supply chain, whether the product is in your Metrc account or at a partner's facility and in their Metrc account. The way Marjin makes this possible is by enabling entities that create new items and packages in their own Metrc accounts, on behalf of partners or customers, and assign brands and ownership of particular items to their actual owners. A typical scenario is to assign items to a Brand or Manufacturer upstream from a Processor, Wholesaler, or Distributor.

Your Org's License and Brand filters

The context of the view in the Inventory Browser is first set by selecting the Licenses and Brands to be included. These filters are at the top level and work independent of each other. These filters also depend on the permissions of the user, so If your user account does not have access to a specific license, then you will not see that license as an option in the Licenses list. The same is also true for Brands.

Branding in Marjin

Inventory is based on Packages (represented by tags or barcodes) of the Items that are created in Metrc. Brands is an additional field associated with Metrc Items on the Marjin network. They enable operators to organize, categorize, and share visibility of their inventory across the entire team or even with their supply chain partners.

What is the benefit of branding my inventory?

Brands in Marjin are unique properties listed in the Directory that are owned and controlled by the actual brand owner. You can assign Brands to Items in your inventory whether the Brand is on the Marjin network or not.

For Brand-owners (Cultivators, Wholesalers, and artisanal Brands)

Brand-owners could be Cultivators, Wholesalers, or Brand-owner of artisanal products for example. If you are a Brand-owner, the benefit of assigning your Brand to particular items (as they correspond to Metrc items) is to maintain visibility of the inventory as it navigates its way through your supply chain partners, like a Processor, Wholesaler, or Distributor. This is especially helpful if you are an unlicensed Brand-owner and have product at a Licensed facility using Metrc, then you can use Marjin to request access to those items by having your partner Brand those items they create in Metrc on your behalf.

Item Ownership in Marjin

Today, when product is transferred from your Metrc account to a supply chain partner, you lose visibility of that product, even though you still own the product. Marjin is innovating on the existing operational paradigm using Metrc by making a distinction between the owner and the facility and license in possession. We do this using Brands.

Your inventory in Marjin includes Brands that is an additional dimension integrated with your inventory of Metrc Items. You can assign ownership of branded inventory items to either your own organization or to the Brand-owner. By assigning ownership of Items in your inventory to the Brand, the Brand-owner will see those items in their inventory, but under the facility column, the product will show at your facility as reported by Metrc.

||| It is easy to audit and verify whether a specific item is visible by a partner outside of your Organization or not by reviewing the list on the 'Assigned' tab in Item Owners. It is also easy to restrict visibility on shared items by reclaiming ownership.

Create your organization on Marjin in 6 easy steps

1. Log in to your Metrc account and navigate to your Metrc user API key.

Navigate to the user dropdown in Metrc and click 'API Keys'.

2. Copy/paste the key text or scan the API key QR code.

This is the Metrc user API Keys screen.

Use the Marjin mobile app to scan

If you have the Marjin mobile app on your smartphone, then just tap the QR Code icon and scan the QR code on the Metrc API Keys page.

You can scan the user API key's QR code with the Marjin mobile app.

From a desktop browser

If you are on a desktop browser, then copy your Metrc user API key and paste it in the API key field in Marjin.

4. Select the license(s) to associate with the new Organization

If your Metrc user is llinked to more than one license and/or company, you will have the option of selecting which of the licenses you want to consolidate under your new Marjin organization.

Organization overview

Your organization in Marjin is created when you claim your first license. Organizations in Marjin are the account property that groups the Brands, Licenses, and Companies that your organization owns and controls and the Team of users that manage those entities. We'll use a fictitious organization called ${color}[#1b5e20](Acme Cannabis) throughout our Help Center to contextualize the help articles with examples.

Managing your organization is simple and there is not a lot to it. Using the Organization toolbar, you can update your Org's name using the Edit Org button. You can also claim your own brands or sponsor partner brands on the Marjin network, and add licenses to your Org that have not been claimed yet by clicking the Add License button.

Managing a brand in Marjin

Brands are used in Marjin for tagging Metrc items, assigning ownership to branded items, and grouping & filtering product in inventory.

Let's use Acme Cannabis to explore the different scenarios for adding brands to your organization. Currently Acme Cannabis is showing just one brand in its organization called Acme Premium Brand. Using the Acme Cannabis organization, we will claim a brand listed on Marjin, we will add a new brand that is not listed on Marjin, and we will sponsor a partner brand that does not have a license or account on Metrc.

Claiming your brands on Marjin

In addition to Acme Premium Brand, we'll add another brand to Acme Cannabis called Acme Budget Brand

Click Claim Brands button to claim your brands on the Marjin network
